Transitioning to the winter quarter and the start of a new year signals a time for fresh beginnings. This season God’s Word for Life provides timely study of key doctrines and Bible topics: the Oneness of God; foundational stories of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. With this aligned exploration of the Bible, all ages can apply God’s Word for Life at home and at church.
SERIES 1: THE REVELATION OF GOD
This series will explore four different accounts in Scripture that reveal who God is. As churches look at the I AM speaking from the burning bush, the power of God revealed on Mount Sinai, Jesus’ conversation with the Jews about being “before Abraham,” and the vision of the one sitting on the throne in Revelation, encourage your group to see the revealed majesty and power of God throughout Scripture. That revelation of God will guide their pursuit of Him and their growth as disciples of Jesus Christ.
SERIES 2: STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD
Foundational to our grasp of Scripture is study of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Through the examples of these Old Testament patriarchs, we will see the importance of clinging to the promises of God. From Abraham being called to leave his homeland to the birth of Isaac, from Jacob deceiving Esau to his wrestling match with an angel, these narratives reveal the steadfast nature of God’s promises. To see God’s promises come to pass in our lives, we must do as the patriarchs did: stand on the promises of God.
SERIES 3: FOLLOWING JESUS
This series will look at the early portion of Jesus’ ministry. From His temptation in the wilderness to His prophetic reading of Isaiah in the synagogue, from choosing His twelve disciples to His life-changing teachings, we learn what it means to not only believe in Jesus, but to follow Him wholeheartedly. This series will call all who will listen to follow Jesus.
