Lori Wagner is an ordained minister and recognized international evangelist, holding a master’s degree in Theological Studies from Urshan Graduate School of Theology. Raised in Paducah, Kentucky, she grew up with a passion for reading and writing.
Wagner states, “I once heard a minister say, ‘First you get a mess, then you get a message, and then you get to be the messenger.’ It’s so true!”
Despite childhood brokenness, she found healing in Jesus in her twenties, which motivates her to share God’s love and hope. A bestselling author of twenty-five books, Lori Wagner writes on discipleship, Christian growth, Bible study, and more. Her works include curriculum for Word Aflame Press and articles for various periodicals.
Lori Wagner has served on the Urshan College Board of Trustees and several ministry committees. She is also pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies. Through life’s challenges, including widowhood and raising a blended family, Lori Wagner has continued her ministry with resilience. Wagner’s writing reflects the breadth of her ministerial experience and the seasons that made her into the Apostolic leader she is today. Her works cover discipleship, prayer, biblical instruction, personal healing, and Christian fiction through a Oneness Apostolic lens.
Wagner’s fiction explores faith through fun storytelling. The Briar Hollow series, for example, is set in a rural American town in the late 1800s and follows families who want to live right before God while carrying hidden struggles and unresolved pasts. Apostolic readers will recognize the tension of trying to be who God has called us to be in the world today. Her other fictional works are stand-alone novels, including A Scarlet Letter, which is not based on the classic book. Wagner uses the title to tell a story about repentance, forgiveness, and life change through Christ, written in a way Apostolic readers will recognize and appreciate.
Across every genre, Lori Wagner writes as a Oneness Pentecostal who has lived what she teaches. Her books use Scripture and personal experiences. As you journey through her collection, it’ll be easy to hear the heartbeat of someone who believes the Word, has a personal relationship with Jesus, and who writes to point people back to Christ when faith is tested.

What’s great about Wagner’s books is how she writes so plainly and honestly about her life experiences. Her writing reflects lessons learned through personal pain, a relationship with Jesus, and a life of prayer.
Several of her works focus on prayer and spiritual growth, offering guidance that suits both personal devotion and group study. Titles such as Holy Intimacy: Dwelling with God in the Secret Place and Arise Walk in the Sunrise are great resources that emphasize prayer as something lived out daily rather than reserved for church settings. These resources are often used by individuals who want structure without feeling overwhelmed.
Several books also address practical issues the church continues to navigate today, including answering your calling, faith in difficult seasons, and ministerial responsibility. Works like Preach Like a Lady and Gender and Ministry are frequently read by those seeking a biblical perspective on leadership roles and service within the body of Christ.
Another reader favorite is Through the Waters: The Life and Ministry of Evangelist Willie Johnson. This biography follows the real-life ministry journey of a respected Apostolic evangelist and reflects the perseverance required to remain faithful through difficulty. Readers appreciate that it presents ministry as costly, prayerful, and deeply dependent on God rather than idealized.
