Summer kicks off this year with a hallmark of our Apostolic heritage: Pentecost Sunday! This quarter God’s Word for Life will be an asset for churches by providing a Pentecost Sunday lesson, followed by series that help us take the message of Pentecost to others. With this aligned exploration of the Bible, all ages can apply God’s Word for Life at home and at church.
SERIES 1: LOVING THE UNLOVED
Taking the message of Pentecost to others begins with love and compassion. Jesus loves all people, whether they are overlooked and deemed unimportant, seen as outcasts in society, or even hated and marginalized by others. Just as Jesus loved those others refused to love, we are called to show and share His love without discrimination. This series helps to highlight the command of Jesus to love your neighbor as yourself.
SERIES 2: God Is Our Refuge (A STUDY OF PSALMS)
Scripture makes clear that offenses will come; our response determines our future. We must determine to never allow hurt to turn us away from God but rather toward Him. This series will show how the Lord will be our refuge and bring strength and healing to those who are hurting and overtaken with burdens. Psalm 22, Psalm 34, Psalm 46, and Psalm 55 teach us that no matter what we may face in this life, we can be confident God will be near and will help us carry the burdens we have been tasked to bear.
SERIES 3: THE IMPORTANCE OF GOD’S WORD
Our beliefs, our actions, and even the condition of our heart must align perfectly with the Word of God to be everything He calls us to be. This series will emphasize the necessity of hearing and obeying Scripture and will accentuate the promises and power that inherently accompany His written Word. From Jehoiakim’s blatant disregard for God’s Word to Josiah’s humble submission to the Book of the Law, this series will show how important it is for individuals to heed God’s Word and put it into practice in their lives.
